Integrate BigBlueButton with Moodle

BigBlueButton is a powerful web conferencing system designed for online learning.

BiggerBlueButton provides an enhanced BigBlueButton server with extended features. You can easily integrate your BiggerBlueButton server with Moodle by one of the following options:

Integration via API Credentials

1. Get API Credentials:
2. Visit Biggerbluebutton API endpoing page: https://biggerbluebutton.com/api-endpoint/
3. Copy the URL and Secret from the API Credentials section.
4. Configure Moodle:
5. Go to Moodle -> Site Administrator -> Plugins -> Bigbluebutton
6. Paste the copied URL and Secret into the Bigbluebutton plugin settings.
7. Add BigBlueButton to Courses:
8. Once configured, you can add BigBlueButton as an activity in your Moodle course content.

Note: If you’re using Moodle version 4.0 or older, you must install the BigBlueButton plugin before proceeding.

Integration as an External LTI Tool

BiggerBlueButton offers additional features not available in the default Moodle plugin, such as a learning dashboard, meeting history, and breakout rooms history/recordings. To access these, you can integrate BiggerBlueButton as an LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability) tool:

1. Navigate to Moodle’s LTI Tool Settings:
2. Go to Site Administration -> External Tools -> Manage Tools -> Configure a Tool Manually.
3. Enter BiggerBlueButton LTI Credentials:
4. Tool Name: Enter any name (e.g., "BiggerBlueButton")
5. Tool URL: Copy the Tool URL from the IMS-LTI section in the BiggerBlueButton API Credentials page
6. Tool Description: Provide any description.
7. LTI Version: Select LTI 1.0/1.1.
8. Consumer Key: Copy the Consumer Key from the IMS-LTI section.
9. Shared Secret: Copy the Shared Secret from the IMS-LTI section.
10. Save and Use:

• Once configured, you can add BiggerBlueButton as an LTI activity inside your Moodle course content and access all additional features.
